Eligibility requirements apply at the time of application. Applicants must meet all of the following requirements—unless specific exemptions are stated in individual country or award descriptions. Requirements scholarhsips
The successful applicant for a PhD scholarship has demonstrated research potential as reflected by for instance the grades obtained and master’s thesis. Applicants are expected to have an educational background in economics or business economics/management science/operations research at a master’s level, – e.g. normally the Danish or equivalent degrees: cand.oecon., cand.polit., cand.scient.oecon., cand.merc. or a degree in civil engineering. Information about the PhD programme at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Southern Denmark, can be found at: www.sdu.dk/sam/phduk.

The application must include a project proposal (synopsis) of 5 pages describing a research proposal related to one or more of the two project pillars. Dialogue with one of the below mentioned contact persons is possible. The proposal may be further elaborated during the first three months of employment.

Successful applicants must have a genuine interest in applied and policy oriented research within one or more of the work packages of the project apart from a sound theoretical background.

The institutional setting is the Danish hospital sector. Applicants not having such prior knowledge must acquire it early on to be able to do policy relevant research and to collaborate with hospital staff.

For non-Danes the successful applicant must acquire knowledge of Danish language, in particular reading skills, during the first year of the position.

PhD students are expected to participating actively in departmental activities and activities related to the overall project ‘Hospital of the Future’.

PhD projects must be completed in three years with Odense as place of employment.

The institution will:
1. Distribute NZDS application forms for the applicant to complete and return with all required supporting documentation*. Each education institution has their own close-off date to receive completed NZDS applications
2. Assess the candidate’s application for admission to the institution
3. If the candidate’s application for admission to study at the institution is approved unconditionally, the institution will send completed NZDS applications to MFAT’s Scholarships Team in Wellington, New Zealand, by 30 June. Note: If the candidate does not meet the NZDS eligibility criteria, the education institution may decline the NZDS application on behalf of MFAT
4. MFAT will consider all submitted NZDS applications for selection. Some candidates may be interviewed as part of the selection process. MFAT will advise the institution of the outcome of the NZDS selection round by early September
5. The education institution will forward an offer for a NZDS scholarship to successful candidates, and then assist them with their travel arrangements to New Zealand.
6. Successful candidates commence their studies around February the following year.

Scholarship Description: The Arts and Humanities Research Council provides funding for postgraduate study for UK/EU students, on a competitive basis. For 2011 entry, the University of Leeds will offer a number of Doctoral and Research Preparation Masters Awards under the BGP scheme. Institute for Medieval Studies MA and PhD incoming students are eligible to apply as follows: Doctoral Awards – normally for up to three years full-time study or up to five years part-time study, leading to a Doctoral Degree. Research Preparation Masters Awards – for students undertaking Masters Courses that focus on advanced study and research training explicitly intended to provide a foundation for further research at doctoral level, Awards normally for one year’s full-time study or two years’ part-time study. For the above awards, UK students will be eligible for a full award, covering academic fees at the UK/EU rate and a maintenance grant. EU candidates will be eligible for an award paying academic fees only, except in exceptional circumstances or where residence in the UK has been established for more than 3 years prior to the start of the course.
The University has established a number of subject panels which select shortlists of candidates that they wish to recommend for an award. The IMS submits nominations to the relevant subject panel(s) each year. The University’s BGP Committee will then meet to consider the shortlists and will approve the nomination of the successful candidates. Student nominations will be made to the AHRC through the Joint Electronic Submission (Je-S) system. Further instructions on creating Je-S accounts and nomination forms will be given to all shortlisted candidates in May. The outcome of the selection process will be available in summer 2011.
